Don't have a Cat dealer in my area. Need to replace my hydraulic oil. What would be a good oil? I have local auto parts store, Walmart, Cal Ranch and IFA.

Any good quality 10W (or ISO AW32) hydraulic oil will do the job. I'd stick with major oil brands like Shell, Texaco, Conoco, etc.

hyd oil questions Hey saw ur questions bout what hyd oil to use,,,, I worked a cat for some ys an there like every other dealor they want you to buy there products an run only theres, even so for there filters,,, BUT if the machine is under any kinda warranty you need to stick with dealor filters ,,if not an you have a failure someweres there cat warranty want stand behind anything, they will blame any failures on ur after market filters other than there own. but if no warranty then napa filters are just as good, but like in the oil products in ur newer equipment never run anything with a ISO number witch is on the back label, plus if its on the bucket it will also have on it that it meets certain recamandations from cat, deer, case, exc. a good all around hyd. oil is the 303 hyd trains. oil that's in the yellow 5 gallon buckets at ur local tractor supply store, not to mention is the least expensive hyd oil out there that has everything ur machine needs in it to help with wear an viscosity additives, worst case of not finding any reasonable hyd. oil use regular 15w 40 diesel motor in hyd tank, no it want harm anything either, works just as well an can mix with hyd. oil,,,just never run any knock off brand hyd. oil in ur cat that not got any ISO numbers on it, now if ya had a 20 yr ole tractor that's differ, it can handle the cheaper fluid over newer tractors. the 303 hyd oil at tractor supply normaly stays around 32 dollar area an is in yellow bucket with a green top an has a picture of a green john deer skidder on it.

I would like to chime in here about the last post "even though it's from 2014" j303 or just "303" is a John Deere hydraulic fluid that was discontinued in 1974 and does not meet ANY standards in today's world. There's a reason it's that cheap. In fact, the state of North Carolina banned it from shelves. Do not use it. https://pqiablog.com/2018/08/08/nor...op-sale-order-on-303-tractor-hydraulic-fluid/
