i'm considering an upgrade from my 2007 Cat 301.8c, to a slightly bigger machine in the 2.5ton class. Any thoughts about the Volvo ECR25D or the Cat 302.4D? Jan G, Norway
Hard to say w/o knowing your situation, what type of work you do with it, how far your dealers are etc. Guess my point would be if you're going to get away from the expanding u/c which (i'm assuming your cat has?????) why not go up to a 3 ton or 3.5 ton machine. In my opinion a 2.5 ton machine would be pretty restricting in terms of reach and lift. Just a thought....
Whit machine weight above 2.5/2.6ton you will need a bigger truck for transport, as the weight limit in Norway is 3.5ton, trailer an machine combined. The Cat 302.4 have almost the same lift capacity as a 3ton machine, i think its the best alternative, but the Volvo looks good to. Machines above 3tons also have stronger engines, and then you will need a license to operate them, according to laws here. The machine is for hire, and most customers doesn't have this license. Jan G
Norway sounds really strict!!
