Gents, why would the oil pressure warning signal be beeping all of a sudden if wire to switch has been cut for some time? Thank you, Tom

No idea, but why don't you start with a Serial Number and a brief background of the history of the low oil pressure warning.?

Ide be worried about why the wire was cut in the first place!!

2006 Cat 303C CR #BXT 00159. Bought the machine sight unseen from a rental company 18 months ago,(3600 hrs.) great machine for its age and my use, but noticed a broken after purchase but never really traced it back, never had issues with oil pressure light, then recently it started going off so went to clean terminals on pressure switch and realized the broken wire was to the switch...Thanks Nige.

Probably somewhat related, or could be unrelated, I'm not sure. I'll send you an electrical schematic for it so that you'll know where all the wires go.

Everyone, Low oil pressure alarm is still going off after these steps: -Replaced oil pressure switch, cleaned wire connection to it (wire is in tact). -Changed oil and filter. -Cleaned and greased wire connector at back of monitor. So next step is to check pressure from oil pump (per Nige) just wondering if anyone else has had to go this far and what the outcome? Thanks All

Have changed 3 of the sensors on Cat ( Mitsubishi ) engines in skidsteers. They seem to fail often as they have had many change ups in numbers. One owner had me do an actual oil pressure test before changing the sender and there was very good oil pressure when hot. Can't say about your situation other than if the wire to the sender is broken or loose on the way to the computer, the computer may think there is no oil pressure. Check the schematic carefully for joiner plugs on the way back to computer. Let us know what you find . Simon C

Did a pressure test this morning and it was on the low end of the speced range (43 psi), so I added more oil, I usually run it right in the middle of L and H on the dipstick, and now it seems to be fine, so I guess that was the issue I'm happy to report. Thank you for all the input Guys, greatly appreciated!

Small engines like that one don’t have a huge quantity of oil in the pan to start with. Add to that if there is any possibility it might be working off-level at any time I would say it’s a good policy to keep the oil at the Full mark on the stick.
