Cat304obx ยท 2018-12-24 16:39

Just got my first mini. A 2013 304 ecr with 790 hrs. Won it in auction. Been cleaning and greasing. Getting ready to change filters and fluids. Where can I find repair manuals? Best place for filters? Any know problems with machine model? Thanks.

    1. If this came out of auction then I would assume it doesn't have an Operation & Maintenance manual in the pocket behind the seat. Correct me if I'm wrong. 2. After an O&M Manual you'll need a Parts Manual. For both the above, go to the link below. https://catpublications.com/ Click on "Continue as a Guest" when the popup window comes up. For an O&M Manual type in SEBU8746 and hit Search - $66 for a pdf download. For a Parts Manual type in SEBP5979 - $89 ditto. For a Service Manual you need to be looking for Cat Publication UENR1580. Not available from the link above but from https://servicemanualpro.com/ Not cheap - $770. Think of it as an investment that you can resell separately online if you sell the machine. You might be lucky and find one on eBay. Regarding consumable parts like filters I would stick with Cat until you have an idea of what other options are available in your area. For lubricants you don't have to use Cat brand but make sure what you do use meets the Cat spec listed in the O&M Manual and is of a good brand (Shell, Mobil, Conoco, etc.). Personally I'm not keen on the idea of using fluids from the local parts house such as NAPA in a piece of earthmoving equipment but maybe that's just me.

Any idea what this is? Looks like grease fitting but larger in size. Goes to end of arm cylinder. Thanks

It helps to prevent dieseling the packing when you remove the cylinder and repack.
