Cat 314 Lcr hour meter not working

ToxicTrav117 ยท 2023-05-24 13:21

I just noticed the hour meter stopped working on this machine. What is the way to troubleshoot the meter or how it works? Serial number: PCA00905

Test backside of hour meter for 24v when running.

There is 24v power to the wires in the back of the meter so I'm guessing the meter is bad right?

Ground is always to frame/ battery. 24v when engine is running on other wire. Final test...remove meter and connect directly to 24v and ground. If you have a display monitor, hours can be seen in there, too. Out of all my Cat excavators, only my PCA 314CLCR doesn't have a display monitor.

Yeah I measured the power using the ground off the plug so that is good also and yeah it's weird that the 314 doesn't have a monitor. Does the meter just pop out or is it held in by a collar or something?

If it's mechanical, remove the wires, then unscrew the rear cap body. If you buy the Cat kit, or equivalent, that is digital, youll you need to run a dedicated 24v wire to the third pin.

They never make stuff easy. Would that be a switched 24v or always on 24v?
