I have a Cat 320 DLL that seems weak. The pressure on pumps1 and 2 are about 4200 psi running and spike to over 35,000 psi when operating. The machine as a whole seems weak. These pressures seem high but I do not have anything to reference it to. Thanks Gary \
No. Not 35,000 psi. Not possible. 5,000/5,100 is max. Swing is 3625 supposedly. 35,000 Kpa would be correct for travel and implement circuits.
Okay KPA makes sense, My eyes aren't what they used to be. But my question Still remains, are these specs normal at full throttle 4000 unburdened 35000 full pull?? My Case CX130 has as much pull as this machine. This machine was also used to run a forestry cutterhead in its earlier life. So much plumbing you can hardly see the boom!
Well, it seems to match the CAT published specs. Obviously there may be other issues. One thing you probably need to do is verify each function as usually there is one port relief valve for each hose on each cylinder, or pair of them with the boom cylinders. With age and use these can get weak and open at lower pressure than the pump settings. That's about the extent of my knowledge, maybe some CAT excavator dudes will pitch in
Good to know the pumps are normal. We just replaced the drive relief valves last week but it still struggles to move, nearly impossible to bench.
Yeah, that's not right. Not sure where you need to look, might be time to pay the piper and get CAT tech to do some testing, pressures and cycle times, etc.
Get the swivel resealed and travel should improve. Since you say there were many attachments you may have full pressure but low flow. They boost the NFC pressure as different tools are selected to get the reduced flow they need. This is done at a block near pump with NFC lines running through it and one or two solinoids on it. Thanks for the help Bob. I forgot to mention that we had the swivel resealed. It has to be done from the top now, as opposed from underneath. What a pain he stood on his head for about a 6 hours working on it. Reduced flow makes sense, that might explain why the thumb circuit is so slow I will get it checked out. Gary
You need to take the swivel out to reseal it. The big rings between the core and the housing are leaking. Later Bob
