My father in law just purchased a Cat 320 excavator. He was told it was 320 L but the serial shows up as a 320A serial is 3XM04749 anyone have a service manual?
First the not-so-good news. Your machine is a grey import originally built for the Japanese internal market and never intended for export. All the original documents for it were only ever published in Japanese. The good news is that there is a US-model equivalent (8LK-prefix) and the publications for that model will work for your 3XM-prefix machine. See below. So for a Service Manual you should look for Cat Publication reference SENR5465. Unfortuantely I can't see one anywhere on the usual internet marketplaces.
Thank you for that info. I told my father in law that info and he is worried that something is wrong, it might be stolen or something else wrong. Should he be worried other than learning to read Japanese? Ha
He doesn't have to. English language manuals are available for everything - O&M, Parts, & Service. Give the Serial Number to your local Cat dealer and ask them if it appears on the Stolen Machines database. Really should have done that before buying it.............
