cat 320c pab04500, 11500hrs..... machine will bog to 1300 rpm when 2 pump flow operations are used/stalled out.... when machine is cold, started first thing in the morning it will work fine you can stall it out at about 1750 rpm.... once you get it hot it turns into a dog....it idles smooth and hits high idle, no misses or sputtering, even when bogging at 1300 rpm stalled. things that have been done. -fuel pump has been changed (by the customer) -all fuel lines from tank to pump have been changed. -fuel filters have been bypassed, and changed. -all fuel lines have been bypassed. -tested fuel in the machine. -machine has been run out of a pale with known good fuel, directly to pump. -fuel pressure is good. -boost pressure is good, and turbo has been inspected -air filters are good. -power shift pressure has been examined on a gauge, all good. -sweep test with power shift solenoid tested and passed. -replaced power shift solenoid and recalibrated (out of spite!) -blow by tested and ok. -engine valves set -machine will still hit main relief 5050psi when bogging -no active or logged codes.. Does anyone have another other ideas? Im heading in the direction of the hydraulic system somehow dragging it down.
Banjo screens in the fuel line fittings. Had the same problem with a 315cl. Worried the heck out of me for a couple of weeks because it would run great in the mornings and the warmer it got, the weaker the machine was. Problem was by the time the machine started bogging down it was too hot to get in the engine compartment. So, I would try a few things every morning and run it until it started bogging and then let it cool and try some more. I don't remember exactly how many there were on that particular machine as that has been a year or so ago and a lot of other machines have come and gone since then.
Jake, I think the pump controler is bad/leaking internally and not destroking the pump soon enough. Acts like PRV unpluged. "Works good untill warmed up" translated into "a leak someplace" to me. Pump should last longer but controlers cost a lot and might best use exch pump. Later Bob
I think you should calibrate the pumps constant horsepower settings. Requires a flow meter though.
sorry for the late reply... we changed the nozzles and at a stall it brought the engine rpm up to about 1600.... then we pinned each travel motor and watched powershift pressure for each motor directly and found the left side to be way out from the right....right side was at 600psi at stall... left was at 200psi stall.... telling us the pump was at max destroke but nothing could happen... we then adjusted the pump to make up for the high power shift/internal leakage, and balanced pump output/ powershift pressure to 200psi....stalled out engine rpm now to 1800rpm... the owner said the machine has never worked so good!
The same problem happened with me but I think the engine is low power itself
hi sam how are you doing in yeman
Hey jake. Were you able to fix your excavator? If yes then what was wrong. Im having the same problem
