The serial number on the machine is 9kk02063. Excavator been sitting for about week. Went to crank it and the temperature gauge starts climbing and warning buzzer goes off before 1 minute of run time. Is this a bad sensor ?
I can only assume that you verified that coolant is present. With that said, if you just leave the key on for a minute, without running the engine, does it respond the same?
Coolant is present. Will investigate in morning with key on and not cranked. Thanks
Key on not cranked gauge goes about 3/4 way toward hot.
If you know that the actual coolent tempteture is not that much that means indication on the monitor is fault. This could be a result of the bad coolent tempteture sender. If the coolent temperature sendor's resistance has gone down this kind of indication can see on the monitor. First you can disconnect the two wires from the sender (open circuit) then if i am correct only one band of the gauge should present on the monitor and then short circuit these two wires and check whether gauge on the monitor goes up smoothly until the maximum reading. If these checks shows as good that means your wiring, controller & monitor are good. Then we can say that the fault is the coolent tempteture sender.
Went ahead and put new sensor in. Still showing too high. See video when it is low one wire disconnected and when it moves up second wire is touching post on sensor
If you can perform the above mentioned test and mention the result.
No wires connected goes to three bands
Wires touched goes full band
After disconnecting two wires from the coolent tempreture sender, check the voltage between these two wires. It should be 11- 12 V when key switch at the on position. And check the wiring to the sender. Whether these two wires have any shorts or any fault.
Will check tommorrow and reply back. Tks
Found wiring schematic Mr.Nige sent me couple years ago believe it was number nineteen gray wire going to ecm from the temperature sender and black wire went to alternator for ground. Unplugged 24 pin connector and found gray wire and check for continuity. Wire was good. Check black wire to ground continuity and it was good. Sprayed electronic cleaner on 24 pin connector plugged it in and unplugged again and sprayer cleaner again Temperature gauge went to working properly Thanks Mr. Anuradha for all your help Thanks
