CAT 329 E CAT0329ETPLW00668 The machine has the active code 1044 - high intake manifold pressure. I removed the line from the wastegate. Under a load the line does not want to build pressure. The wastegate lever is free. Any thoughts on what to look for?
E1044-2 High Intake Manifold Pressure : moderate severity This pressure is a variable value that is calculated by the ECM. The resulting value is dependent on the operating conditions of the engine. I'll PM you the test procedure for the wastegate actuator. Probable Causes Turbocharger wastegate Wastegate regulator Recommended Actions Turbocharger Wastegate Disconnect the output rod in the wastegate actuator from the lever that operates the wastegate. Operate the wastegate lever by hand and check for full and free movement. Check that the output rod in the wastegate actuator is biased towards the retracted position. Connect the output rod in the wastegate actuator to the lever that operates the wastegate. Check the operation of the wastegate actuator. Refer to Systems Operation, Testing, and Adjusting, "Turbocharger - Inspect". If the wastegate or the wastegate actuator is not operating correctly, replace the turbocharger. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Turbocharger - Remove (First Stage Turbocharger)" and Disassembly and Assembly, "Turbocharger - Install (First Stage Turbocharger)". Wastegate Regulator Use the electronic service tool to check for diagnostic trouble codes that relate to the wastegate regulator. Rectify the cause of any related codes. Refer to Troubleshooting, "Diagnostic Trouble Codes".
