I have a cat 785b that keeps flagging up about four error codes relating to the vims and then a heap relating to temp sensor errors etc. I have had the local cat dealer look at it several times. I have replaced the vims ecu with a second hand unit and when that one was no good i replaced it with another second hand unit (apparently this one was originally from a 793 but it is the same part number) the dealer flashed the ecu but that did not help. He told me he was having data link problems with the cat ET dropping out. Anyone got any suggestions.
Need more details of the codes, machine serial number, etc. The Part Number of the VIMS control box (your machine ought to be the old 64k VIMS unit unless it has been retrofitted recently with the new ABL2M box) is the same across every model. What makes the box model-specific for a 785B in your case is the software that is flashed into it. Do one thing for me. With the truck stopped and power on, press the keys MSTAT (67828) then hit . This gives the Machine Status. The first screen will look something like the photo below. Post the actual numbers from your machine back here so we can see what we're dealing with. There are multiple screens that each time you press OK it will scroll on one more screen. Post the details/numbers from ALL the screens please.
