Supposed to look at an 815 for someone. hr meter inop. its a 1996 is there no diagnostic port on this old girl? Cat said they thought it was near the column but I cant find it... Looking for some insight. Thanks
A Serial Number, or at least the S/N prefix, would help ............ If it's a 1GN it needs a Click Box. The connector is on the back side of the front dash panel next to the Harness Code Plug.
Nige it is a 1gn00295. Click box? I am unfamiliar?
4C-8195 CMS Service Tool, commonly known as a "Click Box".
Silly question maybe, do they make an adapter for cat com II? or do you have to use that specific service tool?
ET/Comms Adapter will not work on that machine because it has no programmable ECM's, only hard-wired controllers. If you don't have a Click Box you can make one. Refer to my link above.
What is it or isn't doing? Later Bob
Bob its operating just fine, they just want it gone through because they are thinking about buying it... which being this click box diagnostics we wont be able to see hrs i would assume since the meters bad... but it will still be nice to know if we got a bunch of stored codes
