What is the difference between a CAT 914G and 914G II?

    One major difference is the engine. The 914G has a 3054 which is effectively a Mitsubishi. The 914G2 has the Cat C4.4 engine in it. Attached the sales brochures for both models from back in the day. There can't be a lot different, Cat even used the same front cover photo for both.....!!

    Those both show a Cat C4.4 engine. Maybe a later model 914G?

    The cover of the Parts Manual for the Series I machine lists the engine as a 3054 which is a mechanical engine. This later became the C4.4. Note that the engine in the Series II sales brochure is shown as a “C4.4 Electronic” where the one for the Series I machine does not. The change from a mechanical to an electronic engine appears to be the principal difference between the two models.
