Hello everyone, Recently we sent the gearbox of my 950 CAT for repair since the power was very low, everything went smooth until when we installed the gearbox and the engine the machine does not move not forward nor backwards, we lifted it up from the back and the wheels are spinning by hand. Everything it seems that is working well with pressures etc but does not move again we removed the gearbox and the technican checked it again and he said that everything is well done inside by the manual. We installed it again and still the same issue. Pressures oil temps and everything else is normal. Any information would be appreciated , maybe we forgot something or if happened to any of you guys? Thanks in advance
Post a machine Serial Number please. What pressures were tested.? Please post a list of the pressure values you measured.
Thank you for your reply. The SN is 90A788. The pressure is tested to 340bar
That makes no sense. 340 bar is 5100 psi give or take. Do you by chance mean 340psi.? I need to find the testing procedure for that powertrain. From memory there will be at least five different pressure measurements on the system that affect the ability of the torque converter/transmission to transmit power to the wheels, and each one of them will have a different specification .
Yes i think its PSI . The main pressure from the ECU as we call it here is 300-350 psi
90A is the first series of 950 with the 2 speed ps transmission with manual hi - lo range. This may sound silly, but make sure the range selector isn't in the neutral position between hi and Lo.
Yes is checked low and hi doing the same thing no movement
Just an update, the transmission pump was removed and check neutraliser , check valve, valve relief, the valve relief on the gearbox and everything it is as it should be as the manual says. The pressure goes to 300 psi and when you switch to low hi or forward reverse the pressure drops and goes up again . this is a mystery for sure
Unfortunately there is no information available in the online system which is not unusual for a machine of that age. It appears as though you are going to have to get hold of a paper service manual if you do not already have one. Maybe another member on this forum has access to one.? I see a couple on ebay, for example this one.
