Cat 950k auto level, bucket curl issue

TeamEagle · 2022-07-16 12:14

The company I work for has a 2013 950k loader. They recently replaced the loader arms, opting for a used pair. When they re assembled the machine and brought it back to the pit the bucket would not fully curl all the way back, instead it sits at almost 80% curled when attempting to retract it back towards the arms. The garage mechanic claims that the auto leveler needs to be adjusted, but also claimed that it was adjusted fully and that’s all we were gunna get out of it. The machine did not have this issue with the older loader arms. I’m wondering if the replacement arms are not the right ones. There’s also a good deal of play in the hydro piston/ z bar linkage when you roll the bucket out fully, I believe the extra play is what would make up the difference in the retraction issue. Not sure how to fix this any info would be greatly appreciated

Please post a Serial Number for a start. Makes finding info a lot easier. Were only the loader arms replaced, nothing else like cylinders, etc.? Was the used set of loader arms the same Part Number as the ones that came off.? Can you get the numbers.? Does it feel like the tile cylinder piston is coming hard up against something internally when you roll the bucket right back.?

Why were the loader arms replaced?

One of them developed a crack

Hey sorry for the slow reply Serial number for the machine and than for the loaders arms. Only the arms were replaced, I wasn’t there for the removal of the original factory arms so I don’t have the serial number. When you roll the bucket all the way out it extends the bucket past the normal range. When you do this the extra range of motion is noticeable in the tilt cylinder. I’ll post a video tomorrow because it’s hard to describe. Thanks for your patience.

That 2nd photo is the P/N of the crossmember. There should be a rectangular plate with the P/N of the arm assembly on the outside of the RH arm close to the bucket pin. Can you find that.? Also was the tilt lever (the cast one the pivots in the centre of the crossmember) from the old lift arm re-used on the replacement or did the replacement come with a lever already fitted.?

Hey I could not find any rectangular plate anywhere on the loader arms. As far as the tilt lever question. My mechanic had this to say, “If hes referring to the bellcrank as the tilt lever than no The bellcrank was not replaced the the adjusting rod mechanism for the leveler was replaced” I guess I can’t upload a short video so grabbed a screen shot. So in this picture the bucket is rolled all the way out, yet if you press on the stick it depresses that cylinder deeper without any m

You can but you have to upload it to YouTube first, then link it here. Rather than battle over terminology with the mechanic, see the photo below. Were all three of the arrowed components from the original lift arm (cylinder + 2 links) transferred to the replacement lift arm.? Also was the same bucket put back on the machine.?

Is the old lift arm still around somewhere.? If it is can you measure the distances L-1 and L-3 as shown in the diagram below please, then get the same measurements from the replacement that would be good.

Is he talking about this.? What exactly got replaced.?

Last question. When you tilt the bucket all the way forward or all the way back, does the tilt lever (bell crank as your mechanic calls it) come anywhere near the cast stops in the lift arm crossmember.? I have arrowed one of them in the diagram below, the other one is not so clear but should be on the top side.
