Cat 953C Drive problem

Texasdirtguy ยท 2013-07-17 12:18

Anyone heard of a 953C with just one drive motor pulling? It's a BBX serial#. No shavings in the planetary and oils are good. It is the left side not pulling. You think an electrical issue or filter? Appx 4000 hrs.

Is it forward and reverse? might have a stripped drive spline on the motor. Later Bob

Yes both. Our workers shut it down one evening, it was working fine. Next day start

    Next day it wasn't working.

First check the filter, drive and hyd are common oil. If the filter is clean I think the best way to check with limited tools would be to get it running, put it in gear/forward hold the RH peddal half way down so it will not drive then push it back with another machine. Stop, put it in park and try again. This will check for drive and brake, brake should hold it in park. If it pushes easy in drive listen for noise at final drive. The C models wear the motor drive splines the older ones wore the brake disc splines. Later Bob

The 953C works well in a wide range of applications. Excavating, clearing, stripping topsoil, landscape contouring, grading, dozing, backfilling, hard bank digging, carrying material, and truck loading all can be accomplished with one machine.
