The valve controls the operation of the ether starting aid. Default Service Password should be "1234" unless someone has changed it.

It's controlled from the engine ECM. If you look in the Configuration Screen there wil lbe a parameter for "Ether Control" or "Start Aid" or similar. That parameter can be enabled or disabled using ET. Defeault setting ex-factory is "Disabled" AFAIK. If the ECM decides the engine requires ether to start based on the Ambient Air or Engine Coolant tempatures, the valve will activate and supply short bursts of ether during cranking to get the engine started. Depending on the engine software it may also activate during the first couple of minutes of running until a stable Low Idle RPM is established. None of the above will work if there is no ether bottle screwed into the top of the assembly above the valve in your photo............... First thing we ever did in Afria was remove the whole system and plug the injection lines into the air intake ducts. If the lines ever cracked/broke (they get stood on frequently, especially in truck & excavator applications) the engine would suck dust in through the hole and end up as toast. The only thing that has to be left installed is the valve itself because it will generate a Diagnostic Code when you disconnect the electrical supply (the 2-pin connector directly below the valve in your photo).
