Cat Balls

Does anyone know where to get the rubber balls that go into the extra mounting holes in a Caterpillar wet starter nosecone to keep clutch oil from leaking? I cant find a mention of them in any of my CAT parts books or any part numbers on the web either. The nose cone has a couple extra holes so the starter nosecone can be clocked/mounted in a couple different angles. These extra holes overlap a dip in the casting of the stater body and create a tiny void in two places and the bottom of the stater/nosecone seal/junction. It makes it look like the bottom starter bolt is dripping oil or almost like a faulty gasket to blame, but in reality its these two holes leaking. A couple old timers told me there should be rubber balls pressed into the extra holes to seal them up. I'll call NC in the morning and see what they say (probably $26.99 each ball). Or maybe the local starter rebuild shop? Or maybe tapered rubber plugs from the hardware store? What have you used to seal them up before? Any starter rebuild shop recommendations in the Tacoma area?

Here is a couple pics of the offending holes. Looks to be six holes total. Two by each starter bolt.

3T3434 is the part number. Glue them in with silicone to be sure to be sure.

Thanks for the part# Cmark! I visited cat today and picked up a half dozen of the balls. Just for others searching for this info like I was regarding sealing up a CAT "wet starter" leaking from the bolt area,,,, You will need six 0.5" diameter rubber balls total for one starter. P/N 3T-3434. At this time they were $2.31 each Other part needed is the stater mounting flange gasket. P/N 4H-7869. At this time it was $3.24 Parts were cheap, but I took the wife with me, so the cost of new CAT beanie hats and hoodie sweatshirts was much more than parts, lol!

Sometime I'm amazed at how hard it can be to find a simple part! After a bunch of searching found the Delco Part Number 1949619 then Delco says it is obsolete! Did find that Navistar does list them for $1.70 https://s1partscenter.com/brands/international/electrical/plug/1949619 And Amazon shows them for the bargain price of $32.12! https://www.amazon.com/Mounting-73116978-1949619-71-1311-180-12007/dp/B07HFGDCGR For that price they better install them and mount the starter for me!

Lately, the amazon stuff I’ve priced seems to be more expensive than what i can get locally, especially when i factor in shipping. I guess i’m just looking for the ‘wrong’ stuff

half the time I use amazon to get a part number and then go back to the net and get it from a real vendor at a reasonable price.

<div... www.as-parts.nz That site shows a box of 50 for $17.02 including GST! And that enough balls to do 8 starters and have a couple for spares in case you drop one!

25 cats gave their juevos to seal up some starters. it seems a little cheap to me.
