Cat D330C Front Motor seal replaced but still leaking.

We have a 1971 955K w D330 with a leaking front seal. We replaced the seal but it's still leaking. The seal we replaced it with did not come with a wear seal/sleeve nor do we recall it having one installed. Does this motor supposed to have the wear seal/sleeve installed with the front crankshaft main seal? Any assistance is appreciated. @Lil Red

    Can you post a machine Serial Number and also what Part Number of seal did you install.? Was the new seal a genuine OEM one or aftermarket.?

    I've attached pictures of the new seal and serial number. The new seal is the genuine OEM. I don't have the part number at this moment but can add that later.

    Was there a groove worn in the surface where the old seal ran?

    Not according to the Parts Manual. The rear crankshaft seal has an option for a different Part Number containing a wear sleeve.

    some had a plate bolted to the front cover that the seal set in and it has a oring between the plate and front cover it could be leaking there
