New owner of a D5C (SN: 9DL00282). 1) Having some issues finding the right service/parts manuals. Suggestions on where to look? I'd like to verify I'm getting all of the fluids checked/grease in the right places and confirm service intervals, etc. 2) Dozer is running well (have about 6 hours on it so far) but noticed that the left track 'grabs' when turning left, like the brake engages immediately vs a softer clutch type action. Brake releases with no issues. Right track/turning right, no issues. Does this sound like an easy adjustment? 3) Also, seems to have good power. When forward and reverse in 1st gear is fine. Seems sluggish in 2nd gear both directions and in 3rd gear going forward, it seems to not be engaging (ie, doesn't move any faster than in 1st gear). What should I be checking for as troubleshooting steps? Thank you!
Manuals, with the appropriate Cat Publication reference and new prices, are as follows:- Operation & Maintenance - SEBU6731 $49 on CD, $57 in paper. Parts - SEBP2243 - $109/$156 Service - SENR5330 (also includes an O&M Manual) - $485/$685. NOTE: If buying a used one from the internet always ask if it is complete. The O&M Manual and schematics from paper service manuals have a nasty habit of going AWOL. Try searching eBay or similar using the Publication references. If you fail try HERE .
Is your machine pedal or lever steer.?
Lever steer
Take a good look at all the control linkages and make sure they are free and well lubricated would be my first suggestion. Any rod ends and cross-shaft bearings should be considered suspect until proved otherwise. Attached the specifications for setting up the linkages.
