Let me ask this a different way. How do you tell if it is the gauge, wiring problem or sensor? Does not show any temperature not even ambient. Thanks, Don K.

There are all sorts of variations of D5G, each one of which probably has a different electrical system. A Serial Number is always good information to give up front if you want answers to questions like this one.

Thanks Nige. It is a D5G XL. Serial number is WGB0293

Attached is the electrical schematic. The sender is Part # 7W-9943 and is found on grid F-15 of the schematic. The signal wire from the sender to the gauge is wire # 443 Yellow. If you follow it from the temp sender the 443 wire passes through at least 2 major harness connectors between the sender and the gauge. I would first try checking that wire for continuity along its length. Corrosion in a connector or a cut wire..? Then check that the gauge (Grid D-4) is getting power between the 123 White wire and the 200 Black wire when the ignition is switched on. Check the sender by removing it and measure the resistance, it should be 500-800 ohms at ambient temperature, 70-80 ohms in boiling water - so the difference in resistance should be noticeable. Not sure of how you would check the gauge but try everything above for a start and see how you go .........
