Got a Cat D5H SII that is tracking hard. Full throttle, put in F1 or R1, it drops to about half rpm and will move, but can tell somethings dragging. Put it back into N and it jerks to a stop hard (like brake is dragging). Put it in R2 and it wont even move and the driveshaft out of the torque convertor completely stops spinning. It steers fine and doesnt put any more of a load on the machine when steering. We had the torque convertor out last summer and a shop did some work to it. Put a used primary oil pump back on also at same time. New oil, filters, cleaned screens and oil cooler. Mechanic did torque convertor pressure check cold and was 154psi. This if first time out with the machine since the work has been done. Any ideas?
You have low pump pressure. Might be a problem with the trans lockout/park brake control. Look down by the control linkage for debris interfering with the movement, clean first. Then you need a pressure gauge on the pump check the pressure at high and low throttle with brake on and off, steering levers pulled, right and then left and then both. Tell me the pressures you get and we can talk about it. Later Bob
