Cat d6c torque

Capic · 2021-10-28 19:51

Hi guys I have a problem with a D6C 10k dozer,we are traying to get it moving for few months now. It just stoped and will not move. The shaft between T.C and transmision is turning very slow and when i put it in gear it stops. We tried everithing, took out T.C 4 times and sent it to diferent mechanics, they all say it is nothing wrong with it,we took out the pump and rebuilt it. It is sending oil to the T.C. The dozer can be turned on, the hydraulic is workin fine. Can someone help me,the winter is coming and it is in the forest.Sorry for bad spelling,i am from Serbia.

Does the motor go under load? The problem might be the transmission.

  2. #2Capic2021-10-29 02:07

It does not go under load,i am not sure it seems as it would move if the T.C. turned the shaft.I got it to spin faster 2 times(do not know how)and both times it looked as if it will move but when i put in gear it tensed the chain tracks litlle and stoped tue shaft.Looks just like there is no power coming from the T.C.

Did you check the trans filter and suction lines to the pump, check pressure on the pump

  4. #4Capic2021-10-29 05:28

Yeah,we even drained all the oil from tans. and checked all the pipes and hoses.Took out the main hose from the T.C to see if there is oil coming from the pump and there is full hose coming out.It shows that there is pressure in the trans.Everything indicates that there is a problem with the T.C. but 4 diferent mechanic assured me that there was no problem with it,i even sent the valves from the T.C to check and the one that is on the transm.Everithing looks fine but the dozer still doesn't move.

I thought that the teeth on Flywheel might be damaged but they are all fine

  6. #6kshansen2021-10-29 07:21

Have any pressures been tested? I'll try to attach a file one testing transmission pressure tests.

  7. #7Capic2021-10-29 07:52

No,we thought that it must be a mechanical problem and we didn't know where the points for messuring are. Many thanks, i will test them in few days when the mechanic returns the T.C.and we mount it.

Do you have some schemes for the hydraulic system( T.C. valves etc.) i would like to study them,i could not find them anywhere on the internet and i am to far away to order a manual.

See if the attached file shows any thing that would help. Note it includes direct drive and powershift machines so might get a bit confusing.

    One more that may help:

Thanks a lot i will look into it.It might help me to finally move the dozer out of the forest.I will update you in a few days. Thanks again

Hi, we have tested the pressures and the torque valve had 100 psi,and we fixed it on 136 psi but still nothing changed, the shaft is still tourning slow and the dozer does not move

Stick your pressure gauge into the top of the Transmission Filter, remove the Purge Plug and pipe in to this point then post what pressure you have. tctractors

put trans in gear and pull both steering clutches back and see if drive shaft turns if you got convertor in pressure the convertor should pull have you checked the planetary on the front side of the convertor

  16. #16tctractors2021-11-12 01:58

That's the plug to hook in to, this is always the first point I ever put a gauge in when testing transmissions on all the flat drive CAT's, if you don't have good pressure hear there is no need to test any place past this point. tctractors.

    The pressure is ok here

  18. #18Capic2021-11-12 02:34

It does not turn if I put it in gear, and i tried to pull them both. Those are ok,we mounted the convertor day before yesterday and i checked everithing.

  19. #19Capic2021-11-12 02:39

    Is this what you mean?

  20. #20tctractors2021-11-12 16:27

Did you select all speeds in F, R, and see if the pressure held constant, in Neutral position the drive coupling should spin fast, when you select a speed the coupling should stop and load the engine as the torque stalls, the same pump works the steering so as you pull the slew levers you should see a flick on the pressure gauge, so select 1st or 2nd speed and pull the steering levers both together then release 1 lever at a time, note what the drive coupling is doing. tctractors

What does the torque divider and sun gear look like in the flywheel? You keep pulling the torque converter but don’t mention the torque divider planetary.

  22. #22Capic2021-11-13 01:32

I don't have a picture of the planetary but they look apsolutely fine i checked the flywheel and the gear inside of it they look fine

  23. #23Capic2021-11-13 01:40

Yeah we tried that,it stays in place,it does't spin at all,and it does not load the engine and i don't know why it seems that the whole problem. I will take a video next time, but it is to far away for me to go every day so pls tell me your opinions on what should i do,so next time I go i will try everithing you suggested

  24. #24tctractors2021-11-13 02:10

If the shaft spins in Neutral with no speeds selected but stops when any speed is selected and thinking that you can clearly feel the 3 speed selections with a clear click out of 1st speed to neutral, the thought would be that the torque converter oil outlet pressure is way below spec', the inlet pressure can also be checked if you follow the test and adjust sheet, the drive divider failing usually ends in a savage lock up, i would be checking the outlet and inlet controls to the torque and also check the transmission pressure control that bolts to the transmission, just follow the feed pipe from the pump to find this, inside the slugs is a little screen and valve that need fine pliers to remove, study the parts book to see how these valves fit and come to bits as it's something easy to get wrong. tctractors.

  25. #25Capic2021-11-14 04:44

    I will try that

  26. #26Capic2021-11-17 17:35

Hi guys, so i have checked torque outlet valve and it says 100 psi and there are no spacers to remove all the other pressure points are fine.Something strange hapened today ,when put it in gear and start lifting the dozer on the blade the torque shaft started to spin the other direction but when the dozer is in neutral nothing hapens the shaft still turns slowly the corect direction.

  27. #27Capic2021-11-17 17:40

One more thing the torque inlet valve has also 100 psi but we added spacer and brought it to 136 psi

  28. #28tctractors2021-11-19 15:32

This is an odd problem you seem to have, but as the main pressure is good and the torque outlet pressure is good but the engine fails to load up when placed into any gear, the fact that the drive spider started to spin backwards when the hydraulic pump was loaded tends to make me think it's the torque that has failed? so how about popping the torque out and getting a few pictures up of the internal parts, we will tell you how to put it all back together as there is little inside them to worry about, this would include the divider as i would think a drive has sheared somehow, when you go to take the torque out always remove the scavenge pump first before unbolting the case as damage can happen to the pump shaft from the torque weight, you also fit the scavenge pump back when the torque case is all bolted up, I have never seen the drive shaft rotate 2 ways. tctractors.

  29. #29Capic2021-11-20 15:16

The outlet pressure is to high,it's suposed to be 42 psi,i don't know if that is relevant I will go in a few days.I will kepp you guys updated
