cat d6c water pressure guage

Recently purchased d6c , serviced all fluids and filters, ck operation of guages, and noticed a guage on dash, water pressure. Removed dash cover and noticed back of water pressure guage cut or disconnected. Service manual does not show guages, hoping someone can tell me where guage used to be hooked up at. Also have water temp guage, which works fine. thank you keith50

I believe you will find that cut off line originally ran to the top tank of the radiator. Should be a 1/4 inch od tube. Not sure why the only place I ever saw a water pressure gauge was in a couple Cat dozers. Not saying it's not a good idea with a pressurized cooling system, seems like with all the sensors on equipment these days someone would think to add just one more.

Mainy older Cat dozers used a matching set of engine temp gauges both water pressure and coolanr tempature they were color coded the theory was if you were operating at a certain color pressue range then it was safe to run the engine in the same color coded temp range the reason this works is 1 psi presure increases the boiling point 3 degrees this made for safe application in high ambient temps. as for the d6 this was a dealer addition and goes to the top of the radiator tank thanks

Like old coolant temp gauges that had a "stepped" green and red section with different steps for different pressure radiator caps.
