I am attempting to change the tracks on a 1980 D6D Caterpillar Bulldozer. The tracks are completely removed but the idler will not slide far enough ahead on the rail channel so I can get the adjustment cylinder out. The idler seems to be frozen or jammed in place. Does anyone have any idea what needs to be done to get this thing removed? It is up on blocks so attaching a skid steer and pulling hard or something like that is not really an option. Sorry again for the triple post in the other thread but this is kind of a pressing issue. Thanks!
Did you unbolt the Idler from the recoil rod yoke?
thanks for the reply bolt thrower. we had to remove a few more pieces than we were hoping for but got it figured out.
