It has a wet bell housing. Is it leaking at the mounting flange? Or, is the starter itself, leaking? Has a new starter been installed, lately? What’s the serial number? You know the rules.

First, yes a S/N would as always be helpful. If a new starter or rebuilt one was installed it is possible that the oil seal in the starter was not replaced or even left out, some rebuilders don't know about "wet flywheels". Another thing where a S/N might help, is does the transmission or converter have a breather on it? If so when was it cleaned last? Plugged breathers can cause build up of pressure that will cause leaks!

I usually have to notify a rebuilder if I need a wet starter. They will assume its dry every time unless they break it apart or it has oil dripping out of it.

2MJ02159...i found a breather on the filler neck that doesn't look like it had ever been cleaned out.!! Cleaned it up tho but didnt fix it. I have yet to find a breather on the bell housing.

Clean the screen out on the bottom of the flywheel housing. Bob
