Cat D6m serial # 4TF43854 service code 113 254.12 298.02 Local CAT dealer said codes indicated a bad brake switch. Replaced switch, no change
First up, 4TF43854 is the engine Serial Number. The tractor is 3WN01242. 298.02 is for the service brake pedal switch, but you're not supposed to simply replace the switch. It could just as easily be a problem in a wiring harness or an electrical connector. Attached is the troubleshooting procedure, go through that and it should point you to where the problem lies. Please report back after you test everything because I would like to know if the 254.12 disappears when you find and fix the cause of the 298.02 problem.
