Last of the non-electronic tractors, not an ECM in sight in either the engine, powertrain, or hydraulics. In a word - Bulletprooof. The problem is that with the 9N having gone out of production in 1998 any tractor for sale in the market is going to have a lot of hours on it.

Well said Nige When properly cared for, they are a good performer. A little low on power compared to the other series of D-9's, but the reliability of a non electronic machine is worth the trade off. I have one working every day and it is very trouble free. When it wears down again, I will put it in to the dealer for a couple hundred thousand worth of fixing, and it will live another lifetime of hours.

And you will be able to continue to do that ad infinitum until either parts are no longer available or until the chassis is no longer fixable, whichever comes first.

I was wondering about the 9n with all the bad talk about the 8n (to small a torque converter and no power).I just need straight line pusher, 6s will spread at fill. Ritchie spec states 9r is another 15000 lbs plus a foot wider blade,to much for the trailer setup.+kind of tired of fixing speed senors

If its anything like the 8n good luck to you.

Also the 9R has a HEUI engine which is another good reason to buy a 9N.
