Dwallace ยท 2024-07-01 07:10

I have a cat IT18B loader. yesterday while using it. the transmission began slipping. I would like to know if there is a filter that could be cleaned? also what the test procedure is to determine the problem. thanks, Daniel

Look at the bottom of the transmission transfer case. There is a screen and magnet assembly behind a 4-bolt cover. You will have to drain the oil first before removing it, then take photos of whatever you find in the screen or stuck to the magnets. What you find will determine how to move forward.

You should also consider acquiring an Operation & Maintenance Manual. SEBU6702 is the Publication reference. You can download one in pdf format by clicking this LINK .

pliable rubber piece looks like a wide flat seal possibly

Nothing else in the screen at all.? No metal on the magnets.? How long have you owned the machine.?

the screen was definitely clogged little pieces of dry crumbly seal. and one big piece of soft rubber

the magnet has debris all over it. not really metal shavings. I've had the machine for about 5 years. when i pulled the cover I would say it was first time ever been pulled. there was some permatex in there also. the machine would still move but slipping bad.

the oil looked really good no burn't smell or discoloring. i checked it when it started slipping and was not hot when i was running it.

Was is slipping in one gear or every gear, forward and reverse?

Got a photo of the debris on the inside of the screen or of a pile of debris if you already removed it.?

it's the debris and the screen with magnet before cleaning. the pile of debris came out of the screen.

From the photo in your Post #7 it appears as though there was still a fair amount of debris on the inside of the screen. Might be no more than a trick of the camera lens.

yes little fine particles of debris on the inside. it was clogged up. feels like dry rotted seal material.

Please remove all the particles and take some close-up photos. It could be that they are remains of burned clutch material. Once the screen/magnets are clean they can be replaced and the transmission refilled with oil. Try operating it and see what happens.

same result with clean screen and fresh oil.

Looks like it is time to break out the pressure gauges and start testing then. See the attachment. All the transmission and torque converter pressures as per the highlighted areas. Post your results.
