Hi. I have a caterpillar skid steer 236b, serial no. HEN3544 that is overheating. I am not very familiar with the machine. I did notice that as soon as I start the engine there is pressure in the radiator. It seems like, from other engines I have worked on, that compression is getting into the cooling system. Anyone know of any other explanation? Is it a common problem for this 6 cylinder diesel engine? Thank you in advance for your response.
The thermostat could be hung. Need to pull it out and test. If not you have compression getting in from head gasket or through liner/block. Hopefully it is the thermostat!
