Short story long, I have a Supertrak SK140 which is a modified 297C / 299C - larger engine, high pressure high flow for tree mulching, cooler upgrade, etc. The machine started life with an ASV style MTL lower undercarriage. GCP prefix arrangement. Could rant about how terrible that undercarriage is, but the goal was to swap over to a standard JSP prefix CTL lower and run steel tracks. The proper conversion from 297C to 299C CTL lower would have had the machine originally equipped with 307-3045 drive motor. I have installed complete track frames from a 299D or 299D2 which have the updated 442-5642 drive motor on them. Both drive motors use the same 262-3764 speed sensor. Everything installed onto the machine fine with no issues after changing axles in the tub for the new CTL frames. Both track frames have 5 hyd lines and single 4 pin speed sensor wiring. Nothing else changed during the swap. I did have to reverse positions of the large supply and return hyd line for the drive motor from where they were positioned on the MTL lower; the CTL lower was running opposite direction than intended. However, the 262-3764 speed sensors are not happy. Speed sensors normally hooked up with wiring, the machine will hydraulically lockout almost immediately and must be shut down to reset and clear error. With jumper harnesses reversed, left on right, and right on left, the machine will move a distance - driving a little goofy of course - but then lock out again. With no speed sensors connected, the machine will run and drive perfectly fine. 2 speed shift, etc all works fine and great. It will throw an error for the speed sensors eventually, but it will NOT hydraulically lock the machine out. I have confirmed proper hosing location on drive pump and even swapped plugs around on pump for testing purposes. New speed sensors from Cat as well. Only thing I havent tried is changing signal wire positions on the speed sensors to accommodate the new hyd line position on the motor. My thought is it is possibly seeing the wrong signal for the intended function. Point being.... is the 442-5642 motor not compatible on the older C series machine due to speed sensor wiring issues, or what needs to be corrected to remove errors and warnings? Hydraulically I know the machine runs totally fine and this is an electrical issue with sensors. Thank you!
Do you have any idea how close it is electrically/electronically to a 297C/299C, especially on the machine side.? Is there any way of reading Diagnostic Codes.? Post a photo of the dash panel in the upper RH corner of the cab. Do you have an electrical schematic for it.? If you want a GCP-prefix electrical schematic unfortunately there are 3 options. To find out which option is closest would require the Date of Manufacture of your machine.
