I have some overheating on my 2006 CAT 330CL with around 11,000 hrs. It seems that the fan motor, which we bought new a month ago, has developed a fault. From what we understand the mechanic who installed it seems to have used the wrong procedure to fill the motor with hydraulic oil and make sure the limit valve is set to the correct pressure. Now, another mechanic tried to fix the pump by changing some internal parts, including a metal plate. But even after this repair, the overheating has returned a couple of times. Each time it is repaired the repair involves working on the plate. Typically this solves the overheating for a while, but it eventually returns. Has anyone experienced this? I am thinking that there must be a better solution than this for getting rid of 330CL overheating/faulty fan motor problems. Or is the best alternative buying another fan motor or are there some internal parts we can buy from CAT and change out? Thanks
Mine (both have DKY ser#'s) saw an update early on which included a larger diameter supply hose. Can't remember if the motor was revised either, but, as for the "refill" procedure, I did no such thing. Replaced motor, installed bigger hose, put machines straight to work.
I think this is what you're referring to .......... 330C (S/N: MCA1-UP; JAB1-UP; JCD1-UP; GAG1-UP; BTM1-UP) 330C L (S/N: CYA1-UP; HAA1-UP; KDD1-UP; RBH1-UP; JNK1-UP; CAP1-UP; GKX1-UP; DKY1-UP) 330C LN (S/N: CGZ1-UP) 330C MH (S/N: D3C1-UP) 330C FMST (S/N: B3M1-UP) 330C FMHW (S/N: B1K1-UP; B2L1-UP; B4N1-UP) The new 296-7207 Hose As is available for the replacement of the former 212-5520 Hose As. The hose assembly is the suction hose for the fan pump. The new hose has a larger inside diameter. In extremely cold conditions, cold oil would resist the flow in the small diameter of the former hose. The resistance to flow would create negative pressure. The negative pressure caused aeration in the pump. Install the new hose assembly if the former hose causes aeration in the fan pump
