Caterpillar 315C travel levers

Working on a 315C and the travel levers are uneven. If you pull all the way back one lever goes about an inch further than the other, forward is the same, maybe not quite as bad. I've cleaned all the dirt and crud off the floor boards so that's not it. Is there an adjustment or does the travel valve need to be rebuilt?

I picked a CFB-prefix machine at random because you didn't give a serial number. The travel pedals bolt straight on to the top of the pilot control valves for the travel function so there is no adjustment. If you want any more detailed information it would require a Serial Number.

    Sorry about that, it's CJC05425

It works exactly the same as I posted above. Could there possibly be a spring broken in one side of the valve ..? The only other thing I can suggest before disassembly is to remove the rubber covers from the travel pedals and unbolt them (you'll find 2 bolts underneath the cover for each pedal). Maybe there is something else trapped under there. Also there is a rubber bellows over the top of each travel pilot valve, is it possible something has managed to get inside the bellows..? Also the other obvious question that should have been the first thing to ask. Does the machine travel in a straight line even though the levers move different distances from the neutral position..?

    No, it mistracks.

I'm not sure if its the same, but our Cat mini excavator has a rubber boot of sorts that sits over the part of the valve that sticks through the floor, ours developed a hole in that boot and cause dirt to get inside between the rocker assembly that the pedals move to track the machine. Might want the unbolt the stick thats not moving all the way and pull the rubber piece out and see if you have debris jammed in there.

Has anyone been in there previously to do some "repairs"?

Not sure about this machine, some of the pilot controllers I have seen have adjustable stop screws and maybe one or two have backed out?

If you move both levers by exactly the same amount from the neutral position does it track straight..?

from memory, if you unbolt the levers you can gain access to adjustable set screws and lock nuts. you will need to bend an open ended 17 mm spanner 90 degrees to fit the lock nut I agree with others in this post ,clean out dirt, check pilot plungers not sticking Mark

To the OP. If you want a copy of the disassembly & assembly procedure for the travel pilot valve dorp me a PM with your email address.
