What are the common weak areas on the 955 and 977 series crawler loaders?
The engines are somewhat easy to diagnose for problems. Transmissions and final drives can have incipient problems that are not immediately evident. Undercarriage and hydraulics are usually evident for problems. Regards, Clark
I don't think they had any common weak points. They were a well built machine and held up well if properly maintained. Lots of them still going.
Very tough machines, I've owned a very early 955K (69' I believe) and more recently a 977L. Finals can be an issue, especially with machines that have had the street pads removed and replaced with a more aggressive pad. Other than that they are very solid, never had any major issues with either the 955 or the 977 Extremely versatile and powerful, make a bobcat look like a toy
