Hello to all, i have a Cat D6h dozer which we have just been working on. We took the trans down and resealed it. we also resealed both the left and right brakes and replaced damaged discs. After putting all back together the dozer runs however, the 1st gear runs fast as if it,s in the 3rd gear. The second and third gears seem to work normal. wondering if anyone can point me in the right dirction on where to check.
What is the serial number? Is it possible that you mixed up the forward/reverse and 123 cables at the trans end?
Possibly 1st gear carrier locked up?

Hello all, Thanks for responses. After much troubleshooting it boiled down to a faulty transmission control valve. After replacing all is well.
