    That's an oldie, 220? No impact? that helps on rusty head bolts.

    my 3/4 impact won`t pull 550 in reverse .i did`nt want to possibly snap a head bolt with the big gun so i used this setup, its a 63 engine and did`nt know if it had ever been apart, did find a couple rusty ones , i`m about 48 pounds to light to pull that torque to

    petepilot, Where are you getting 550 from? NH220-743 head bolt torque final is 480-500ft lbs

    the 550 came from the engine i`m working on it took almost 600 ft lbs to break em loose

    It always takes a lot more torque to break the bolts loose than it does to pull them up tight. The big impact won't hurt anything. The big impulses actually seem to break questionable bolts loose rather than snap off the bolt heads. If the impact breaks the bolt head off, then you didn't stand a chance anyway.

    was easier to handle than the big gun and they all did come out whole. looks like they will be reuseable to
