How a chance to pick one up for trading out some work, 79' model with scarifier. What's the good, the bad and the ugly with these ?
Any info on the drive train? Its probably got some sort of Clark 3 speed power shift with a high low for the trans? I like them because they are fairly simple, drawback is you either have to order the parts out of Canada to get decent service or become your own parts man for sourcing purposes. That being said how they have been treated and maintained is the biggest thing. If it hasn't been run into the ground its got the potential to be a decent serviceable machine
The older Champion units had their own drive unit and trans. Not a bad setup really. Hydraulics were another story. They used a gear pump with a closed center valve and aload sensed relief cartridge by the pump. WHEN it sticks, not IF it sticks the hydraulics will quit. The rear ripper frame was a joke to keep tight to the rear frame. The hydraulic cylinders for the circle look weird, but they do work pretty good really. I know Volvo sold them off I think they are still making pats for them. Good luck.
