Clark Michigan 125C

Hello. I'm thinking of buying a clark michigan wheel loader. This is a 1982 model with a little over 15,000 hours on the counter. The seller says that it has something wrong with the gearbox. Sometimes the machine will not go forward. The brakes also hangs a bit. Both errors came after the machine had been stored for some time. What could be wrong? What should I look for to be able to say with certainty what is wrong? Joern

Sounds like the brake pedal is stuck on. This sends air to the trans. de-clutch,(and brakes). Check if there is air pressure at the small line at the top front of trans. valve area.

Hy, I found this one near me, for sale, but it don't move at all.Apparently, it's in the coupling of the converter where is the problem.Hydraulic auxiliary for lifting doesn't work also in this case.Perhaps jonction problem between engine-converter, and converter-to pumps ps-

My dads 125b does something similar. +il go in all 4 gears in reverse but won't move in forward. Sound familiar?

Georges: Sounds like the converter drive gear, a gear with internal teeth that bolts to the flywheel, there is an external gear on the front of the converter that meshes with it and that is what drives the converter and the pumps. pbsfix: First question, can you get neutral or does it stay in reverse. If the reverse clutch is packed up, all the gears will work in reverse but you won't have neutral and when you put it in forward the converter will stall, the drive shaft from converter will not be moving. All the gears in the transmission continually rotate, the clutchs determine which gears are engaged to the corresponding shafts. You need to check pressure in all clutches. Should be 240/280 PSI with hot oil at low idle.

unit ran perfect, shut it down for the night.next morning no forward.still had reverse all 4. Change over from sock filter element to paper canister.off of spare machine no change. Disconnected link that kicks trans into neutral when you hit left brake no help.

The important point here is if you have neutral or not like Oldeabee mentioned. This will tell you where to look.

  8. #8pbsfix2011-06-14 08:33

    machine will go into neutral

Have you taken clutch pressures? Without them it's just a guessing game.

You disconnected the declutch line, however, possibly declutch spool is stuck.

spool is free. next is taking pressures.

Oldseeabee: yes,it is possible to be a problem with drive gear...No more teeth to drive power... The seller keep this loader...I bought another one,Dresser 545.Afraid about this problems familiar to the 125 Michigan... You have to open it to see...Not easy on big machines.Good luck eveeryone!
