Started off by scraping the heaviest layers of grime from the chain case with a piece of wood(so as not to scratch the paint) and vacuumed. Not bothering with the lower areas for now.. maybe in the spring... Planning to use the compressor next.. thinking that after that I'll use some kind of solvent like maybe paint thinner to clean the areas I plan to reseal. like the chain case covers, control valve, and top area of the pump. temps are supposed to drop to around -10°F in the next few days so pressure washing is not an option. any advice?
