For long term storage, keep the boom low. That way theres less chance of rainwater running down the boom cylinder rods into the seals. I saw a Grove 755 with both boom cylinders ruined that way, being stored with the boom up. The rod wiper seals had small cracks and water ran right down into the packing glands.
