Does anyone know the horsepower/torque rating on a N-14 that is in a 2001 international 9100i road-tractor?
could be anything from 375-550. prob 425 though
Yep, 425 was very common..... A CPL number will tell you, but then the tag with that on it will usually tell you the HP also.
Where exactly is the cpl number? This was a fleet truck. It will only do 63 on open road at 1500 rpm
CPL number should be on a tag on the front left (driver) side of the engine. Just ahead of the fuel pump. Unless you see 2 small rivets with no tag in between - then the CPL tag is somewhere behind you on the highway! Andrew
If the valve covers are painted red it's 460+ hp, otherwise 435 or less. Either way you need the CPL number for buying parts.
A lot of fleet trucks have the engine computer set to max out at a set speed. You would have to go to the dealer to get it reprogrammed if you want it to go faster.
Correction to my other post, in 2001 the 435 could be a red top.
If it's a 2001 and a red top it's somewhere between 370hp and 435hp.
the ECM is set to speed limit it at 63mph, the dealer would have to unlock that
The CPL number is 2591. I could barely make it out. Can someone tell me the horsepower with that number?
I called the local international dealer and give them all the numbers/info that they needed. The guy looked it up and said it was 460hp. I knew it ran real good. It should pull a 30k pd dozer around with ease!!
We had a 1996 day cab cabover international with a 435 red top n14 and a 10spd. We regurally grossed 80k on a lowboy with it on these hills in southern mo and it did very well.
I had the red top and it was 435 horsepower. That was the most common hp rating for that engine.
