Cummins straight 6 diesel in a Hough 60-Priming Pump

lenray ยท 2011-12-10 16:36

Inside of the cab there is a panel with a fuel oil pressure gage and a pull- push rod that says---Cummins priming pump. There was a line from the priming pump to the underside of the injector pump. This priming pump is hand operated from inside of the cab. I am not sure if it primes fuel or AIR--IN TO tHE INJECTOR PUMP. Anyone out there have a pic of this unit and how it is to be correctly hooked up. Thanks for any help.

Cummins straight 6 diesel in a Hough 60--Priming pump This unit has a cab mounted panel with a fuel oil pressure gage and a push pull rod that says---Cummins priming pump. This is a hand operated priming pump. Anyone out there with a pic of the proper hookup or any info. One line went from the hand operated priming pump to the bottom of the injector pump. Thanks for any help.

I merged the two threads into one, since it's the same topic. In the future, only post one thread per topic please. Multiple threads about the same topic jumbles up the Forum. Thanks.

No problem. Help from the HEF population will be along shortly. Unfortunately I don't have any advice, my skills are lacking in the mechanic department.

Lenray, did you get my e mail about the check valve? This may help keep fuel in the pump and you wont need the hand primer.

grandkobelco thanks for the help--I installed a manual shutoff for the present time and it is working good for me. Also got the block heater working to heat up the engine. It was just heating the radiator--reworked the lines and now it heats the block. That is a great help. Also I wasn't giving the throttle any gas---diesel--now with it advanced it fires right up. Thanks for all your help.

IT IS A 6 CYLINDER straight 6--not V-6- probably in the 1960's vintage year--straight frame wheel loader.
