I have a 1950 Cat D4 6U. It is missing the front track frame guards that attach over the track adjusting mechanism just behind the front idlers. Does anyone know for certain if the track frame guards for a 7 U will fit a 6 U? As I understand it, the main difference between a 6 U and a 7 U is the track gauge.
As long as the interchange is from 4-roller track frames they are the same. Five roller frame front and rear sections will interchange but the center section is longer then the 4-roller versions.
Thanks for the reply, OM. My D4 has 4-roller frames. Kenco has guards for a 7 U, but the person I talked to was not familiar with a 6 U. I'll call them back and let them know.
