Trying to find info about a d 7 powershift thats for sale...says it needs a scavenger pump and mixing fluids...i know of one that was mixing fluids and motor had to be pulled to fix...any info appreciated...
Im assuming engine oil and hyd oil mixing...a friend is thinkin about buying it...dont have a serial # to post.
I have a?....is the scavenger pump in the torque converter...does it have to come out to change.
Is it an older D7, the one with the 4 cylinder or is it a later one with the 6 cylinder? Not a high track right? The mixing could be caused by a seal in the pump drive at the back of the engine. Also, if it was an easy fix they would have fixed it before trying to sell it usually. Don't know the particulars of the deal though.
Im trying to find info for a friend...i would think its a 6 cyl but not sure...my thought was the same...why not repair it before selling...another fellow had the same problem and had to pull the engine to repair his...its a flat track...thanks for the reply....the owner also said the scavenger pump needed replaced ...ive found out it could be a trans pump as well...
Without having at least some idea of what model of D7 it is, any ideas of what the problem might be are pure speculation.
Its a D 7 E...the owner says its the scavenger pump...what does it involve putting one in it...i feel stupid for not knowing...im thinking it means the torque converter has to com out...any thoughts would be appreciated..
I could say I'm a rocket scientist but that doesn't make it true.
The torque converter scavenger pump is on the back ,bottom side of the converter housing. Drop the back belly pan and go in from the bottom. Which oils are going where? Bob
I'm going to go with your more of a sexual intellect . Bob
Thanks for the info on the location of the scavenger pump..the mixing of oil is most likley a rear seal..thats the one that worries me...im definately not a rocket scientists..lol plenty around here if any is looking.
My friend is going to buy the dozer...i talked to the owner..a scavenger pump is 600 bucks at Cat.. aftermarket.. if all goes south he can recoup most of it by selling it for scrap...i learned a bit... didnt know a 7 would have a 4 cyl...thanks for the help...btw..im a rock scientist being from easteren Okla...analyzed my share..lol
I cant thank you guys enough... glad to see Nige back ....yall have steered me in the right direction every time...hope i can help someone one of these days..
A s/n for arrangement groups would end a lot of supposition.
If my friend were paying much more than scrap i would have dug deeper..i talked to the owner and feel this tractor will do whats its needed for...the only concern is i was never given a serial #... if its like the 6d i had the serial is behind the ripper mount if the tag is missing...myself i would go up in the 30g price range and get a tractor ready to work and then sell it after i was done. my concerns are with the undercarrige...my friend is in the dark as to what to look for. I wish him the best but best doesnt have value ..after all the rain he wont be able to get it for a while...its a swamp to start with...rice country.
UC for a flat oval on one of these complete is probably close to $18K, If beyond a scavenge pump or has to get deeper to fix a cross leak could expand to over $10K pretty quick where a $30k ready to run would be well worth it.
Thats about where i was estimateing...30.000 would go a long way in hiring his work done...
