Just purchased a D4C series III power shift with a bad tranny. Going to be a winter project and hopefully all goes well. Anyone have any experience with these powershifts? Are they know for problems?
The title of your thread is confusing. Are you planning on simply exchanging it for another transmission or repairing the one that's in there now.? A Serial Number might also help. There are 6 different models of D4C III.
Sorry…. Yes, I plan on exchanging with a rebuilt one.
Anyone pulled this transmission before? Planning on going out the top. Any tips would help greatly.
Still waiting for a Serial Number. As I said before there are 6 different models of D4C Series III, it would help to narrow down which one of the 6 you have. It would also be easier for you to locate a replacement transmission (see below) if you had the Part Number to work with, which would come from the machine S/N. Questions:- 1. Do you have any idea what is wrong with the transmission or did whoever you bought it from give you any info regarding what symptoms it was displaying.? 2. I assume you have the tractor already. Have you drained the power train and pulled the magnetic suction screens to inspect for extraneous material yet.? 3. What makes you think swapping is the best solution.? Have you considered overhauling the transmission currently in the machine.? 4. Apart from the transmission what else were you planning on replacing in the power train at the same time.?
IIRC because of the small size the "accepted" method is to remove the engine and transmission together and split the transmission off once the assembly is on the floor. With a small tractor like this one you are always going to be pushed for space to work and it may not be physically possible to remove the tranmission while leaving the engine in place.
