D4D question about the wet clutch

'67 78A7177. Clutch oil is low so I am going to change it. This came up once before and someone mentioned something about cleaning a screen for the clutch oil pump but my manual makes no mention of such. How is it accessed? In fact, where is the drain plug for the clutch? A related question to do with the clutch hand lever pivot pin... is it removable while the tranny is in the machine? It appears to be a press fit into the side of the transmission. The lever is off (don't ask how) exposing wear on the pin way beyond what new bearings will correct.

Screen is under the clutch cover behind the six bolt cover plate with drain plug in the center. Transmission needs to be removed to remove the clutch yoke shaft.

My shaft is beyond worn. Had a bronze bushing pressed into the lever at some point in the past. Only riding on the highs spots, it didn't last long. Am thinking of epoxying a sleeve over the shaft and hone fitting the lever to the O.D. of the sleeve. Would include grease grooves and a zirk. Any other ideas for a fix?

Sorry, meant to say the clutch has to come out to remove the yoke shaft, transmission stays. That sounds like a Mickey Mouse fix for the lever. Not that big a deal to remove the clutch, why not do it right??

The lever I'm trying to describe is the clutch hand lever, right in front of the left arm rest. The shaft is 1" diameter in the side of the transmission and looks to be a press fit? The levers original needle bearings dried out, got full of dirt and wore the shaft. All before my time. The previous fix was a 1.25" O.D. bronze sleeve pressed into the lever that slid over the 1" shaft. That would have been fine but the shaft was so worn the high spots wore the sleeve straight away. I have replaced the clevis pins and yokes in the rest of the clutch linkage and relined the clutch brake shoe. I don't see an easy way to remove and replace the shaft.

If it's just the lever bearing and shaft your after that assembly bolts to the side of the transmission. Should be able to remove that assembly without removing anything else. The shaft is replaceable pt #4K5365 along with a new bearing, seal, and key. Hopefully the lever itself is not buggered up.

Thanks, O.M.. Lever is fine, have new bearings. Will look into removing the shaft assembly, didn't see where anything unbolted last night but will look again in better light.

Looks like I'm wrong again. Was looking at the forward/reverse lever. The clutch lever appears to run on a blind stub shaft pressed into the side of the transmission case. Part # 1M1917. A new shaft would need to be pulled out and pressed back in. I can see maybe getting the shaft out in the tractor but not pressing a new one back in. Does that shaft line up to where it is above the frame side rails? If it does installation access may be had by removing the fender.
