i got my d4h xl3 in the shop changing oils in the plant. and trans. the book says to clean the pickup screen on the oil pump for trans....is this under the big belly plate, under the dozer?... i just bought this dozer, but the oil i pulled from the trans sure looked good...i wanted to make sure its under there before i pull a 100lb+ plate off the dozer, and bust my nuts and my fingers in the process
Remove back pan, remove square plate on end of suction . Screen inside.
There is a screen under the transmission pump: A magnetic screen is inside the bevel gear case. Oil from the bottom of the bevel gear case goes through an inlet passage. As the oil goes through the screen, foreign particles that are in the oil are stopped by the screen and cannot go into the transmission hydraulic system. After the oil goes through the screen, it goes around and through magnets. The magnets are installed on the tube assembly so that the same magnetic ends are next to each other. Smaller metal particles that go through the screen are stopped and held by the magnets. These magnets will not let the metal particles go with the oil through the hydraulic system. The oil then goes through the outlet passage to the transmission pump.
thanks i cleaned it today, i hope i alligned the magets up right. the screen and magnets case were almost perfectly clean
