D5 equalizer bar

Does anybody know where I can get a used or rebuilt equalizer bar for a D5h (8rc serial #) tractor. The end bearings have been out for awhile I it has eaten into the bar itself.

Here the Cat dealer can rebuild the bar. They weld up the ends and middle where the bearings and the pins goes then rebore the holes where the bearings goes. On my D6h i had to rebuild the mount where the middle pin went. They had to do that one in the field .The end mounts for the bar was okay that was on the a-frames. Cat might have reman bars, might check that way out.Good luck:usa

thanks constructo, I had the bar on my old 6h also rebored once, but I think this bar is beyond repair. This is on dads machine and there is no telling how long it has been bad.

It might be to bad,you would have too take it and see.Mine was wore quite a bit,but they welded it and rebored and stamped as being certified for some reason on the bar. Mine was the early H so it didn't have a grease zert for the middle pin and bearing ,so the Cat tech had me get a hose and we fixed it so i could grease the middle pin to help the life of the bearings. Plus when i got the H it had plugs in where the grease zerts for the outside pins went,so i didn't get it until the bearing was long gone.Fixed that problem also. The 5H probably was the same way when it was sent out. When they welded the middle mount and welded it in the field ! When they mounted the boring machine to rebore they had to remove the oil pan to have room for the reboring machine. Hopes that helps.I need to do my D6R,and it will need welded and rebored.Hopefully the middle mount pin will not be to bad with the new bearing in place.:usa

Bar out To get the bar out from the tractor if on site, I drive the tractor up on a couple of rail sleepers, lift the blade up and place about 18" of timber under it, then press the blade down to take a bit of weight off the pins, then whip out the middle pin, then press the blade hard down to lift the tractor clear of the beam, then whip out the other outer pins, then tip the beam out of its mounts and pull it out from the back of the tractor, to refit the beam I use 2 pull lifts with one end hooked over the top of the track, the other end hooked to the beam on each side, sometimes I have to pull the track frames together to poke home the pin's. tctractors
