D5H air con

Mquinista · 2024-06-06 16:50

Hy gents, We have a dozer at the farm, old lady came without air con, guess back in the day even the cab was already a nice to have... Anyway i realized there are dozer s with the a/c combo in the top rear cabin instead of the comon fit behind the dash... Question is, are those aftermrket kit of some sort or OEM kit? Basically what i search is the possibility of installing a a/c unit in our machine. The quickest and easy, engime driven prefarebly. Thanks

You mean like a red dot system? The leader in mobile HVAC solutions Red Dot designs and builds mobile HVAC systems and components for a wide range of heavy-duty commercial and military vehicles www.reddotcorp.com

Hey, I guess that stile suits us... just don´t know if they are available in europe... Interesting was a OEM solution as parts are much more readily available. In the absense of it, other solution should be great too.

Have you considered this popular style of aftermarket vehicle airconditioners?

Seen this done a few times now, never understood why the installers didn't mount the Generator AND the AC unit on the roof and duct it down into the passenger cabin....like a roof mount Red Dot. The way they stick it in a side window blocks the driver visibility and seems unsafe...hehehe

A red dot system is always great but I have a 1994 d5h with factory cat AC. The condenser and condenser fans and a relay are up above the rear glass on the outside of the cab. The heater core, evaporator and blower fans are inside the cab under the dash. The accumulator and dryer are in the engine compartment. All the parts are available from cat still. Probably would need to find a dismatled machine for the body panel pieces around the condenser and for some of the dash switches and stuff. I went through my entire ac system in my dozer a couple years ago and got it blowing ice cold. Only reason I found your post is because it's giving me issues again and not blowing cold. I believe my compressor gave up on me. Anyways, let me know if you want any pics of anything.

Hy Mark, Certainly i will apreciate some pictures and discription of a factory system... As a RED DOT system is not throughly available in my country, i might go with a hybrid system based on CAT´s OEM. By Hybrid i mean Automotive parts that might be compatible, like rads and evap, dryer hoses and stuff. Certainly the compressor and other parts to fit it in engine have to be CAT ... My tractor has all the parts to fit the evap inside the fan compartment, blower and exits are still functional, so it just need a switch to start system.... A control module is a must, i guess it can be done many ways. I´ll PM u with other questions. Thanks a lot

I know this is an old thread but this is what I bought for my D5HLGP, but sold the machine before I could install. I still have it packed away somewhere.

That thing is electric right? full electric?

Has compressor like car mounted on engine, condenser & evaporator mount on roof, powered by 24 volts. You would have to make cut out in roof so controls would be overhead. Kit comes with compressor, hoses, gaskets for roof mount, and wiring harness.

got it, that outfit would not be the best for us, as we have tree´s in the farm... lots of it ... dozer is already to high... anyway if u´re closer and customs weren´t involved i might be interested in helping u getting rid of that thing.

People here in Australia put a metal cage/guard around them or put them under the scrub canopy if operating in trees ect.
