Hy gents, Got a D5H SN 1DD06574, and after the other many problems, most solved. Now we have now to deal with the implement hydraulic system, like everithing in this thing is not operating as it should... Most noticeable problem is lack of power of the actuators, cold or hot, for instance it is not able to lift rear of the grownd with ripper, it still does lift front of the ground with blade, but when pushing against a stump it does not have power to lift blade to clear the stump, even in 2nd. Clearly lack of lift power. When oil is hot actuators speed drop a litle and in idle moves really slow, lever actuation sometimes show some sticking specially in lift function. Machine has a 6way blade. This machine is from 1996 and certainly has acumulated some thousand hours as the hourmetter stopped at 12k, but the overall condition makes sense with the 12k... not surprised if pump is done. Anyway i would like your help ID the right implement pump for this tractor, as the plate long gone. Also would like know the system description and functions and test procedure, this cause i found some mickey mouse hoses and bolts in the system. Tryed to put everithing toguether but only have a parts chatalog for that. Thanks in advance.
6e5052
thanks, Anyone know the diff between a 6E-5052 and a 9T-3029, besides brand i guess...
I had same issue on D5H with 6 way, turned out to be resolvers in control valve. Not easy to access, had to cut a hole and bend a wrench to remove control valve. Those little o rings were missing. If you combine funtions does it move better, that's one indication that the resolvers are the reason. I know this is an old post but maybe help to others with this problem. Nick
What do u mean by "Control Valve"? Main valve body or the pump control valve (load sensing unit) My tractor may have all this problems or it may be only the pump worn... for that i need the test schedule ... hoping someone could help with that Thanks
9T-3029 Pump Gp was fitted to earlier Serial Number tractors and is no longer serviced. Replaced by 6E-5052 on all machines from 1DD05500-Up.
The valve group that is directly under the handle in the cab. Thats where the resolvers are. If the little o rings in the resolvers are damaged or gone, the blade will not move very fast or at all. Like I said before, try and combine 2 or more functions at once with the T handle and observe if the blade seems to move faster. If it does, you might have a resolver issue. Nick
Hy Nige, Yep, that is... How to tell if the pumps are interchangeable? Could u help with test procedures?
The pumps are not directly interchangeable. The only thing that is common between the two Part Numbers of pump is the 4-bolt mounting. To swap the pumps from one type to another requires all the pipework (steel lines & hoses) to be reworked, plus other parts. Not recommended. Replacement pumps (6E-5052 in your case) are different from non-current (9T-3029) pumps, as follows: - The overall length is less than the non-current pump. The orientation of port and compensator will likely be different. The mount for the noncurrent pump can be used. The locations of the drain and of the signal port are different. Major modification of the hydraulic line arrangements is required. Service replacement pumps require that the hard lines and hoses to the pump are changed for different Part Numbers.
I suspected something was going on, cause my parts dealer was telling me it was a direct replacement, and he does not have 9T´s anymore. My tractor has a Vickers pump, just don´t know if its 9T or 6E, guess its been moded or the 6E is also Vickers, can´t read the part number on it. just the brand. Anything on the test procedure? Thanks
But your machine should have a 6E-5052 pump already. It was built with one so it should have the appropriate hydraulic connections already for that (new) style of pump. As I said above the 6E-5052 pump was fitted as original equipment to machines with S/N from 1DD05500-Up
How about posting a photo of the pump.?
I´ll do that next time i have the belly pan out. Right at the moment we´re in a midle of a 100h project. Unless the system fails there is no time for that hard labour. This machine has some mickey mouse piping all over, anyway i got to bring it to stock piping and in the meantime i´ will fix some play and leaks in the main valve block, test some pressures and so on. Thanks for your time and patience
The reason I asked for a photo of the pump is that in general Vickers pumps (on Cat equipment anyway) are usually vane type. The pump called for on your D5H is a piston pump, so at first blush a Vickers brand pump isn't what one would expect to find. Now if you had said an Eaton pump it would be a totally different story..... Attached some data for the two pump part numbers.
The pictures atached are not from the pump in my tractor, mine has a similar pump but the plate lost the numbers, just a vickers plate.
HY, Reading from other threads, understand now what the resolver function might have to do with the motion function ... we have this simptoms too, they just are not so evident so to stop lifting ... Question is : Can this malfunction has something to do with low power on lift function? i mean tractor still lifts and tilt normally, it just does not have much strenght to lift, wich in some cases is needed. Thanks
The blade will lift kinda slow, but when you push into pile it won't lift. My D5 is very early model 1DD00514, 1988. But if you have the T handle that is conected to valve body directly below with linkage you could have the same issue with resolvers. I discribed in previous post that if you combine functions using blade control and blade moves faster, symtoms point to resolvers. I removed the control valve and replaced all the resolvers that were still intacked, some were completely missing, problem solved. Nick
Yes thats the thing, what i notice mostly is lifting is week, when one push against a stomp it does not lift at all, making it impossible to rip the stomp out of ground. It should at least lift the rear a bit. This weekness is felt on the 4 functions, ripper, lift, angle, tilt. After some working 2/3 hours it exibits that slow lifting despite valve is actuated fully, and if recycled it goes to normal again. What i´m trying to rule out is the pump condition.... i would like a miracle , avoid replacing the pump and or repair it. Do u have any idea on how to test for pump condition?
Did this happen all of a sudden or over time? Is the pump making any noise when you try to move blade? Did you try combining functions? Nick
I have no clue as i bought tractor from auction and have worked it 100H or so. Did not noticed any diff. Pump does not complain much, apart from some light noise when cylinders reach end of stroke. Combining functions works the slowliness when it comes up, does not afect the strenght.
What is meant by (works the slowliness)? Are you saying the speed increases a little when combining? Nick
Thats what i did write above. After hot (2/3 Hour working) it exibits that phenomena, slow hydraulics for lift , working 2 functions or recycling valve (up/dwn) makes it come back to normal lifting speed. Doing it does not have any efect on hydraulic force, wich basically is my complaint.
That is excatly what mine did. Some of your resolver o-rings are missing. Not a fun job, but you will have to remove the control valve under the T handle where all the linkage is connected. Hope you have a service book. Nick
Nop i don´t have a Repair Manual, its being hard to find one that covers my needs... Do u happen to have one? In your case did u had issues with the pump? In my case i would not discard the pump is gone, as its a 30 y old used machine and u know how this things are exploited ...
My machine is 36 years old and original pump. I only have 6,000 hrs. I had the same problem, lift slow when not pushing dirt, when put blade into any soil at all it wouldn't move. I sold my machine 6 months ago with the book.
Its a pity u didn´t kept a copy... Thanks, i´ll look at that resolvers...
